Owning it: Why we bought Stybek

We bought a roofing company in 2022. 

Stybek had been in business for over three decades. It was built on a foundation of hard work, loyalty, and strong relationships. The person leading it at the time was thoughtful, steady, and deeply committed to the people who worked there. She treated her team with respect. She valued her clients. She did work she could stand behind. Growth wasn’t the priority. Legacy was. 

When it was time for her to step away, she wasn’t looking for just anyone to take over. She wanted the company placed in the hands of people who would honour its history and build something meaningful on top of it. 

We didn’t buy Stybek because it was broken. We bought it because we saw something more. We saw a team that was capable of more than they knew. We saw a company with strong values and untapped potential. And we saw a market that needed a roofing partner that was different. 

We know there are a lot of qualified roofers out there. But we also know the way we operate, the way we lead, and the way we live our values sets us apart. We are truly committed to the stretch, the constant push for better. We are creators and problem solvers at heart. We are committed. We are ambitious. And we never stop. 

We believe in the roofing trade. It deserves great leadership and people who are willing to invest in its future. It deserves those who are ready to train the next generation. Everyone needs the roof over their heads, and too many people fall into this trade instead of choosing it. We choose it. 

From the beginning, we stepped in with intention. Not just to run the business, but to lead it. We built a leadership team that believes in accountability over blame. We created structure that still leaves room for growth. We developed systems that support people instead of slowing them down. And we focused on long-term relationships instead of transactional wins. 

We chose to lead with clarity. We hold high expectations. We keep our word and expect others to keep theirs. We are building something we would be proud to pass on to our kids one day. 

Since taking over, we’ve made meaningful changes. We digitized our operations to eliminate guesswork and bring visibility to our clients through Roof+. Every job, every quote, every site photo, and every cost is accessible in one place. We raised the bar on training, performance, and safety for every crew member. We expect a lot from our people, but we also invest in them. We are not here to do average work. We are here to build a company that delivers consistently and grows leaders at every level. 

We have also begun laying the groundwork for expansion. Not for the sake of scale, but because we believe in building something lasting. Something excellent. Something we can stand behind. 

This work is not easy. But we didn’t buy this company looking for easy. We stepped into this business because we believe in it. 

We are builders. Of people. Of culture. Of companies. We are here to lead with integrity, to grow with discipline, and to create the kind of company where great people can do great work. 

Stybek’s story didn’t start with us. But we are writing the next chapter. And we are just getting started.
